I heard somewhere that it doesn't matter to much if you are active on forums or blogs if those forums and blogs don't have a great Google PR. I don't know if this it's really true, maybe someone could explain me that?

I think being active on any forum that gets a decent amount of traffic isn't a waste of time because you make new connections and spread your forum signature around.

I think the most good technique is to give good and proper keywords. Like if your going for horse riding. then the key words should be like riding and long tail.

To rank higher on google you should have interesting and unique content, quality backlinks and proper keyword selection. Google values older domains too. There are around 200 factors Google take into account when giving you a rank. We will not be able to focus on all.
